WHAT ARE CLARITY ENHANCED DIAMONDS?
Clarity enhanced diamonds are, simply, natural diamonds which have been treated in order to correct any flaws. These treated diamonds are rare. All newly mined diamonds are examined in order to grade them on their color and clarity. Only a small percentage (approximately 1/5) of these newly mined diamonds are acceptable to sell as is. Approximately 20% of those diamonds have visible imperfections, where only a few are treatable. Treatable flaws that are found are known as “feathers.” Feathers are minute fractures within the diamond which are, in fact, relatively common. It is more uncommon to discover a diamond with no flaws.
THE DIAMOND CLARITY ENHANCEMENT PROCESS:
The process which produces clarity enhanced diamonds includes inserting a material into the flawed diamond in order to fi ll the small feathers. This inserted material contains the same optical properties as the actual diamond, in order to achieve a nearly flawless diamond to the naked eye. Since such a tiny amount of this material is used, it has no bearing on the carat weight of the diamond. Even though the feather is still there, this material makes the imperfection undetectable. Also, please note, a clarity enhanced diamond has not been treated for color. When a diamond is treated it does not affect the color.
THE RESULT OF THE CLARITY ENHANCEMENT PROCESS:
The beauty of a clarity enhanced diamond is that you are paying a lower price for the diamond! These treated diamonds can cost up to one half of the price of a non enhanced diamond of the same cut, color and clarity. It is a great way to save if you are on a budget.

The main reason people choose a clarity enhanced diamond is, simply, price. When choosing a clarity enhanced diamond you can purchase a beautiful, larger stone for a lower price than a smaller stone which has been untreated.
DURABILITY OF CLARITY ENHANCED DIAMONDS:
Diamonds are the hardest of all gems, therefore the most durable. They can possibly chip, but nothing can scratch a diamond, except another diamond. Clarity enhanced diamonds are no exception. They are just as durable as non enhanced diamonds. The only thing to remember, however, is that this special diamond cannot be treated with high heat (a jewelers torch). That’s it! Your beautiful clarity enhanced diamond does not require any special care. It will wear just as beautifully as an untreated diamond. Clean it just as you would normally, with mild soap and water or a non-ammonia cleaner.
